Mining Bursary & 6-Month Workplace Exposure Programme 2026 (SLP BURSARY + WEP 2026)

Marlin Granite (Pty) Ltd, a division of Marlin Group, The Company invites applications from suitably qualified candidates residing within the local communities to apply for our Mining Bursary and Workplace Exposure Programme.

The programme is aimed at supporting local youth by providing access to education while developing practical workplace skills aligned to the mining industry. The bursary aims to support deserving and financially needy students who are currently enrolled at, or have been accepted to, an accredited higher education institution and require assistance with tuition fees.

Bursary Value

Up to R30,000 for the successful applicant, payable towards tuition fees at an accredited TVET college.

Number of Bursaries Available

  • One (1) bursary.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a resident of the eMakhazeni Local Municipality or surrounding communities.
  • Be currently registered at, or have proof of acceptance to, an accredited university, university of technology, or TVET college.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Be committed to completing their studies successfully.
  • Preference may be given to students with outstanding tuition fees that may affect their ability to continue or complete their studies.

Selection Process

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Financial need.
  • Academic commitment and performance.
  • Potential impact of the bursary on the applicant’s educational journey.
  • Alignment with the objectives of the Company’s Social and Labour Plan.
  • Willingness to participate in the 6-month workplace exposure programme

Payment of Funds

Approved bursary funds will be paid directly to the educational institution and not to the student.

Important Information:

  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to enter into a Bursary and Workplace Exposure Agreement with the Company.
  • Candidates must be available to complete the required practical workplace exposure period.
  • Completion of the programme does not guarantee permanent employment but aims to improve candidates’ employability within the mining sector.
